—Thank you for the opportunity to preview the paper "Septal Bone Graft for Correction of Saddle Nose," by H. W. Smith et al.
For a number of years I have used the technique of filling small concavities of the nasal dorsum with bone and/or cartilage grafts from the septum, and have seen a number of colleagues do the same. As is often the case, I had assumed this to be a common practice. However, before undertaking a critique of this communication, I perused the pertinent literature on the subject and was rather surprised that this technique had indeed never been published before.
Dr. Smith and his associates are therefore to be congratulated on their efforts in reporting their experiences with this method through the medium of your widely read journal. This is a simple and easy technique, and is especially useful in correcting postoperative depressions of the
