To the Editor.

—My conclusions regarding delay of rhinoplasty until adequate maturation were not limited to hump removal. I have observed that lateral osteotomies done in childhood or early adolescence resulted in disturbed or arrested growth.

The number of cases presented in the article were limited by the difficulty in persuading patients to take the time to return for photographs. They usually return only when dissatisfied or prompted by other circumstances. In a large metropolis the population is quite mobile; tracing patients is often impossible.

I agree with Dr. Wright's concept regarding closed reduction for short-term fractures, but must emphasize that bone surgery in childhood for old deformities is fraught with many pitfalls. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
