New System of Otomicroscopic Cinematography

CINEMATOGRAPHY through the operating microscope has always been a difficult problem to resolve and only in the last few years have quality systems been introduced. The high cost and maintenance with 16-mm cameras do not permit its use by many microsurgeons interested in cinematography. For this reason we developed an excellent, practical, and economical system for use with Super-8 film. During the last two years it has been simplified and improved, and is now available at low cost.

The reasons we chose Super-8 film are: (1) The quality of the image is the same as in 16-mm film because it does not depend on the film size, but on the microscope and camera. (2) The Super-8 cartridge can be changed quickly and easily in a few seconds. (3) The cost is approximately one third that of 16-mm movies.
