The attributes of this book are that it is small, 98 pages, inexpensive, $7.00, and easy to read. The shortcoming are: (1) that per British tradition reference titles are omitted and the bibliography is therefore difficult to use; (2) that some of the jargon and most of the hardware described is foreign to American readers; and (3) the special problem of tracheostomy in infants and children is presented in patches and this matter warrants more specific and direct attention.

The book has been written mainly by anesthesiologists is therefore slanted in this direction making chapters on "Respiratory Failure," "Artificial Ventillation of the Lungs," and "Management of Patients on Respirators," of special interest to the practicing otolaryngologists.
