Presidential Address

I DEEPLY appreciate the honor of having been asked to serve as the first president of this new society, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

The amalgamation of the American Otorhinologic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical Society with the American Society of Facial Plastic Surgery was achieved in the hope that the united strength would create an influential organization which would further the educational program and the development of the otolaryngologist in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the regions so close to his specialty, the head and the neck.

The aim of the new society is to stimulate and advance the principles, practices, and the art of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, to improve and raise the qualifications and standards of the otolaryngologist interested in this allied specialty.
