Proper placement of any type of soft tissue graft in the final steps of tympanoplastic procedure is of utmost importance. Manipulation of the graft in the presence of bleeding, which obscures the operative field, with suction tip will displace the graft.

This instrument has been used efficiently during the past 50 consecutive tympanoplastic procedures (Fig 1). Gentle suction is applied directly to the cup of the instrument. Bellucci suction with No. 20 and 22 interchangeable tips is used. In order to obtain gentle suction the finger should not be on the opening of the "finger cut off" portion of the suction tip.
