To the Editor: I am writing this letter, both as a candidate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology and as a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association. Over the past month, two medical meetings were held which once again pointed out the very close working relationship between otolaryngologists and audiologists. This was demonstrated in the programs presented at the otologic workshop held in Los Angeles and at the medical audiology meeting held in Estes Park, Colo. Throughout the various presentations the close relationship between audiologists and otolaryngologists was very evident.
Because of the growing interdependence of otolaryngology and the field of audiology I would like to recommend that otolaryngologists, and particularly those practitioners who limit their practice to otology, apply for membership in the American Speech and Hearing Association. The organization publishes two fine medical journals, and their professional meetings present programs which are very timely
