Extraordinary paperbacks are now making their appearance in the field of medical publication, just as they have in the field of general literature. A fine addition to the field of otologic literature is the recently published "La chirurgie de la surdite."

The present volume is a compilation of lectures on the surgery of deafness given by chiefs of the various departments of otology in the major Paris hospitals. It is a publication inspired by Professor A. Aubin, who wrote the preface. It is introduced and summarized by Professor M. Aubry, who has just recently succeeded Prof. Aubin in the Chair of Otolaryngology in the Faculté de Medecine de Paris, and it includes chapters by Aboulker, Bouche, Clerc, Debain, Fournier, Gribenski, Guillon, Maspétiol, and Ombrédanne.
