Ozena has been one of the unsolved problems of rhinology. A variety of methods have been recommended and used for its treatment. However, the results have been only fair. One method after another has been abandoned for a new therapy, and yet there has been no final solution of the problem.
When the etiology and pathogenesis of ozena will have been definitely clarified, our possibilities of preventing in advance the development of this disease will probably be better. Until that time comes, we shall have to be content with treating incipient and advanced cases as efficiently as possible.
Narrowing of the nasal meatuses has been the most widely used surgical treat ment of ozena. Insertion of implant material under the nasal mucosa has been favored in the last few years.
