Hearing Society Announces Award Competition Opening.—Competition for the 1959 Kenfield Memorial Scholarship, awarded annually by the American Hearing Society to a prospective teacher of lipreading, opened February 1.

Application blanks may be obtained by writing to Miss Ruth Bartlett, chairman of the society's teachers committee, 432 So. Curson Ave., E., Los Angeles 36. Completed applications and recommendations must reach Miss Bartlett by April 1.

Winner of the scholarship will be entitled to take a course in "Methods and Practice in Teaching Lipreading" from any school or university in the United States offering a course acceptable to the teachers committee. A requirement is that the scholarship be used within one year after date of award.

Rules for competition state that a satisfactory applicant shall be a "well-adjusted individual with a pleasing personality, legible lips, good speech and voice, and no unpleasant mannerisms." Graduation from college, with a major in education, . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
