This volume is the ninth in a series published by the Medical Department of the United States Army, under the distinguished over-all editorship of Col. John Boyd Coates (MC), with the subeditorship of eminent specialists in the two subjects covered.
The workmanship of the volume is superb, the paper and the binding are of the best, and the illustrations well done. The two pages in color are especially attractive.
It will be of greatest interest to those who served in the Armed Forces during World War II, but almost equally so to nonmilitary readers who will want to know what was done by military surgeons during that war. The Editor for Ophthalmology is M. Elliott Randolph, M.D., and for Otolaryngology, Norton Canfield, M.D.
In Ophalmology there are 19 chapters contributed by an equal number of eminent ophthalmologists. To quote from the preface of this section:
