A review of the medical and surgical application of penicillin is presented in a booklet of 152 pages, with brief reports of cases illustrative of dosages and results.

Following are the various phases discussed: the history of the discovery of penicillin and its preparation, its chemical structure, its constituents and its mode of action. The antipenicillins are mentioned as well as the various preparations of pencillin. The behavior of penicillin in the organism, the titration of penicillin in the blood, the routes of its administration, as well as the accidents and incidents in its administration, and the toxicity are considered.

This monograph is devoted to the important question of penicillin as it concerns the otorhinolaryngologist. All of the modalities of its administration, with their advantages and disadvantages, are described.
