"The Perilymphatic Space of the Ear" is a volume of 423 pages, liberally illustrated, devoted to the embryology, the anatomy, the physiology, the pathology and the therapy of the labyrinth of the inner ear. The book is well printed on high grade paper, with a complete table of contents and an alphabetic author bibliography. Lacking only is an alphabetic index of the subject matter, which might have added somewhat to the accessibility of the material. Especially noteworthy are the series of photomicrographs of histologic sections made through the labyrinth, all carefully labeled, and the excellent drawings of gross sections made through the labyrinth, carefully labeled.
The subject matter is treated completely and with good critical judgment. The comparative anatomy of the labyrinth is well illustrated. The physiology includes theories of the mechanism of hearing. The chapters devoted to diseases of the labyrinth and their treatment are especially interesting. Ménière's disease
