DISCUSSION

DR. LOUIS H. CLERF, Philadelphia: My experience with malignant tumors of the larynx other than squamous cell carcinoma has been limited to 8 cases, during a period when slightly more than 650 cases of squamous cell carcinoma were observed. These 8 cases constitute about 1 per cent of all cases of malignant tumors of the larynx encountered in my experience. The tumors comprised 1 adenocarcinoma, 2 hemangioendotheliomas and 5 sarcomas, all but 1 of which occurred in men.

Practically all of the nonsquamous cell types of malignant tumors exhibit benign characteristics early in their course. When once the growth is discovered it should be investigated, so that an accurate diagnosis may be made . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
