Unusual pathologic conditions of the frontal sinus are more safely approached by adequate exposure of the interior of the sinus, afforded by an external operation, than by other methods. The improvement in methods described over the past twenty-five years has caused surgeons to be less hesitant in utilizing suitable operative intervention. Employment of such methods has resulted in much increase in knowledge of pathologic conditions and has brought about greater relief to patients.

The report of a bone cyst or ethmoid cell within the frontal sinus, which caused the patient constant, dull headache, is here presented.

REPORT OF CASE

A man aged 40 came to the Mayo Clinic on May 10, 1939, complaining of abdominal discomfort and headaches. The history revealed that he had suffered an attack of acute frontal sinusitis, with external swelling on the right side, ten years previously.
