Congenital fistula of the neck has been a subject of wide and varied interest in medicine both in the United States and abroad for the past century. During this time it not only has held the academic interest of the embryologist and anatomist but has been a matter of practical concern to the otolaryngologist, the general surgeon and the internist. This is evidenced by a literature replete with contributions, many in the form of excellent monographs¹ from the representatives of these specialties. The purpose of this paper is not to give a comprehensive review of the literature but rather to add to it the report of a more or less unusual case, in which a fistula of the neck communicated with the middle ear.
