The purpose of this paper is to introduce to the medical profession a new instrument which makes an ophthalmoscope into an otoscope. At present the ordinary diagnostic electric equipment is expensive,¹ and we feel, therefore, that it is essential that the ophthalmoscope should be adapted to as many uses as possible. Heretofore a special otoscopic head has had to be purchased, which has made the carrying case bulky. Our attachment is a compact clip which fits over the top edge of the ophthalmoscope, whose lenses are utilized in the regular way to obtain the necessary magnification and focus of the different parts of the external auditory canal. This device will not interfere with examination of the fundi, it being necessary to remove only the Toynbee ear speculum from the clip.
