INCIDENCE OF MALIGNANT TUMORS OF THE HEAD AND NECK

In the seven years from July 1, 1930, to July 1, 1937, 249 cases of malignant tumor about the head and neck were recorded in the Department of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology of the University of Illinois College of Medicine. The tumors were representative of the types of malignant growth found about the head and neck. Allowing for the advent of a period such as 1932-1933, during which an economic crisis deepens and projects an increasing number of patients into clinics and dispensaries, the number of new patients admitted each year to the department is fairly constant and totals approximately 2,500 per annum.
