When writing on any subject in medicine, one who advocates therapeutic measures has a natural tendency to report the good results obtained therefrom and a reluctance to report the poor results. To a great extent this applies to the discussion of sinus thrombosis, the subject with which this communication is concerned. The literature is replete with reports of cases, varying in number, in which the outstanding feature is a discussion of the cures effected. Relatively few articles, however, deal with the pathologic picture observed post mortem. In my opinion many of the questions with regard to the treatment of sinus thrombosis will be settled by a clearer understanding of the basic pathologic picture of this disease.
