This monograph comprises a series of papers presented as a symposium on cancer before the Section on Medical Science of the American Association for the Advancement of Science at the midwinter meeting in Atlantic City, N. J., Dec. 29, 1936, to Jan. 1, 1937. This symposium, consisting of seven sessions on successive days, brought together some of the foremost investigators of the problem of cancer. Each session was devoted to some particular phase of research regarding cancer. Thus, there will be found a group of interesting and instructive papers on heredity and constitutional factors; induction, stimulation and inhibition of tumorous growths; metabolism of cancerous tissue, and radiation, with a general discussion of cancer.
