For many years medical literature has offered various means of mastoid drainage. Although the postoperative success of mastoidectomy is not due entirely to the type or method of draining the wound, it is an accepted fact that this plays an important part in the convalescence of the patient. Without adequate drainage many complications can occur. The most significant of these is continued aural discharge, which is due usually to inadequate drainage of the antral region. It is my purpose in this paper to present briefly a method which I believe allows continuous and adequate drainage of the antral region.

It has been my practice to use no packing in the mastoid cavity after a complete exenteration of the mastoid cells.
