Dr Pinsolle, in his letter, accuses us of failing to reference his July 1991 article based on a presentation of his in September 1990 in our article entitled "The subcranial approach for fronto-orbital and anteroposterior skull-base tumors."1 Furthermore, by picking out only one of our multiple articles (some of which are clearly referenced in our 1993 article) on this approach, published in January 1990, he declares this only to describe the lateral approach to the skull base. Thus, he practically claims to have described a new innovative technique, not referring to even one of our articles.
The comparison of various sections of both articles as follows reveals that his criticism of us, taking over his text and arguments, is not justified: "We describe an en bloc bifrontal craniotomy including the supraorbital ridges and the nasal bones."2(p779) "With only one operating field, this technique provides a wider angle of
