Members and guests of the Eastern Section of the Triological Society gathered in Boston, Mass, for their annual meeting. The opening ceremony included a presentation by Loring W. Pratt, MD, dedicated to the memory of Dr Daniel Miller, a senior fellow of the Society who died recently.

The invited guest speaker from Portugal, Mario Andrea, MD, presented his impressive anatomic studies of the microvascular anatomy of the vocal cords. Using microangiographic techniques coupled with sophisticated video laryngoscopy, Dr Andrea defined and named the vessels supplying the vocal cords. In the era when endoscopic surgery of the larynx has become an extremely precise microscopic surgery, the knowledge of microanatomy and microvascular anatomy will certainly prove itself to be an important addition.
