I learned of Max Abramson's tragic accidental death shortly after it occurred. Like many of you, I was stunned to hear that Max had died after being struck by an automobile while bicycling in Hawaii. We all admired, respected, and loved Max and we want to extend our heartfelt condolence to Mrs Marcia Abramson and to all of the members of the family from our editorial group at the Archives of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery.
Max Abramson contributed generously of his time and talents in many areas, but we knew him best as a superb peer reviewer of scientific manuscripts. His comments were consistently fair, incisive, and constructive. His criticism was always gentle and often resulted in the reworking of manuscripts into greatly improved publications. Max served as a member of our associate editor group from 1986 until the time of his death.
