PATHOLOGIC QUIZ CASE 1

A healthy 35-year-old man presented with a one-year history of progressive hoarseness. He was in good health, without any history of illness. The findings of a systemic examination were normal. Laryngeal examination disclosed a submucosal lesion causing fullness of the left false vocal cord. Results of the remainder of the head and neck examination were normal. An excisional biopsy specimen was obtained. A representative photo-micrograph of the biopsy specimen is shown in Fig 1. Electron microscopy of the biopsy is illustrated in Fig 2.
