At the January meeting of the Southern Section of the Triological Society held in Birmingham, Ala, Vinod K. Anand, Ossama Al-Mefty, Winsor Morrison, and Kathy Jackson presented a case report of multiple simultaneous paragangliomas. They discussed the important preoperative considerations in such patients, including precise determination of tumor extension by computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and angiography. They further described the necessity of identifying those tumors that secreted dopamine preoperatively, such as in their case. Last, they described the one-stage approach to removal of large glomus tumors with intracranial extension and noted decreased morbidity, increased exposure, and better tissue planes, which provide easier dissection as justification for a one-stage procedure. . . .
