The "Committee Reports" section of HEAD AND NECK SOCIETY NEWS will endeavor to keep you informed on a regular basis of the pertinent activities of the standing and ad hoc committees of the American Society for Head and Neck Surgery.
The bylaws of the American Society for Head and Neck Surgery require the following committees: Scientific Program, Nominating, Credentials, Education, Fellowship and Scholarship, Prevention and Rehabilitation, Research, National Cancer Institute-American College of Surgeons Liaison, Quality Assurance, Postgraduate Training, and Professional Relations and Public Education. All of the committees, except the Program Committee, are chaired by a member of the council; the president serves as an ex officio member of all standing committees.
The primary responsibility of the Professional Relations and Public Education Committee is to promote interaction between the public media and the participants of the Annual Scientific Program. The committee accomplishes this by staffing the pressroom at the annual
