This issue of the ARCHIVES initiates a new section dedicated to facial plastic surgery. These pages will complement the scientific articles on facial plastic surgery published in the Archives with news and comment about socioeconomic issues, clinical updates, previews of new techniques and technology, and announcements of important events. The broad circulation of the ARCHIVES will enable this information to reach more physicians interested in facial plastic surgery.

Research and clinical advances in facial plastic surgery are proceeding rapidly in areas as diverse as tissue adhesives, osseointegrated implants, rhinoplastic techniques, dye lasers, implant materials, plating systems, and refinements in liposuction techniques. We hope to use these pages to highlight the facial plastic surgeons involved in these projects and to get this new information to you rapidly.
