This book is one of a series published under the general series title Cancer Treatment and Research. As such, one should not confuse this book with a general text on head and neck oncology, rather it is a series of chapters emphasizing recent advances in the general field, including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. Advances in therapy are well described, with an emphasis on the molecular bases where appropriate. There are 19 chapters by 41 authors, with five devoted to surgical topics, six to radiation topics, and eight to topics in chemotherapy and immunotherapy. From a surgeon's viewpoint, the book was most valuable in expanding and updating my information base in the nonsurgical areas of head and neck oncology. This should hold equally true for medical oncologists and radiation oncologists looking to upgrade their knowledge level in surgery and radiation.
