To the Editor.—Westerman and Hutton1 published a timely article on the association of acute infectious uvulitis with epiglottitis. In their review of the pertinent literature, the authors found only one previously published report.2 I have been interested in acute infectious uvulitis, and, in my search of the literature, I found several additional articles3,4 that have been published on the subject of acute uvulitis and epiglottitis secondary to Haemophilus influenzae type B. A swollen inflamed uvula may also be caused by frequent hashish smoking5 and by ingestion of caustic substances. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
