New Officers.—Eight otolaryngology—head and neck specialists were elected to leadership positions during the annual business meeting of the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery, which was held Oct 20,1985, in Atlanta. The Academy is a national medical society composed of more than 7,500 otolaryngology—head and neck specialists (90% of the practicing otolaryngologists in the United States). Its function is to advance the science and art of medicine related to otolaryngology and to represent the specialty in governmental and socioeconomic issues.
Robert W. Cantrell, MD, of Charlottesville, Va, was selected to succeed M. Eugene Tardy, MD, Chicago, as president-elect. In January, Dr Tardy replaces Roger Boles, MD, as president. Dr Cantrell is the chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
M. Stuart Strong, MD, was elected vice-president. Dr Strong is the director of Ambulatory Care at the Edith Nourse Rogers Veterans Hospital, Bedford,
