In Reply.—In the preceding letter, Kaleida and Smith question several minor points about the research conducted by our team on the Audio-Scope. We find their comments interesting but not distracting from the main finding of our study, that the AudioScope was in agreement with pure-tone air-conduction audiometry 92.4% of the time. Nor is there any research or experience given by Kaleida and Smith that conflicts with the data or conclusions as stated in our report. We most certainly do not agree with their statement that "Because of the lack of important information, we do not believe that the report allows the reader to adequately evaluate the audiometric screening and otoscopic capabilities of the AudioScope." May we suggest that Kaleida and Smith reread our report, along with those in the references, and also note the discussion on the use of the AudioScope to detect collapse of the external auditory meatus. . . .
