Such a remarkable displacement as that described in the first instance must be quite rare, but we thank the author for sharing these observations with our readers. Aging, trauma, and tumor growth can result in rather dramatic airway distortion, and at times the resultant respiratory obstruction presents both diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.
I doubt that we would agree that the designation of these distortions would qualify as a new clinical syndrome, but we do appreciate the reminder.
