Similar to the first edition of this book, the second edition covers a wide variety of both common and unusual problems seen by the contemporary otolaryngologist. It focuses on treatment, and it provides "second opinions" from experts in the field. The book is organized into four major sections: ear and temporal bone, face, head and neck, and upper aerodigestive tracts. One hundred twenty-eight authors and coauthors discuss 107 topics, each topic being covered in an average of four pages. Excluding the index, the textbook is 430 pages, an increase of 55 pages over the previous edition. Since each discussion represents the author's personal experience or preference in handling a particular clinic problem, there are no reference lists. Also, illustrations are limited and only used when a diagram is essential to understanding.
