To the Editor.—I was extremely disturbed to read the article entitled "Ventilating Tubes in the Middle Ear," which appeared in the December ARCHIVES.¹ This was a poorly written and confusing article, which is obviously going to go a long way in reinforcing pediatricians' view on the use of ventilating tubes. After reading the article several times, I still do not know what the authors were trying to prove, and I think that this article has had a definite harmful effect.
