In Reply.—Dr Aronsohn's personal experience with respect to the use of liquid silicone dates back to 1963. We neither promote nor prohibit such use. Our mention of silicone was primarily for historic interest. Numerous practical factors currently mitigate against the use of liquid silicone, not the least of which is the fact that it is illegal to transport the substance across state lines for the purpose of injection.

In essence, what began nearly a quarter of a century ago as a major medical advance with multiple potential ramifications evolved through misuse, abuse, and lack of appreciation for its inherent limitations into a foggy medicolegal arena with entirely different ramifications.
