This publication is a concise, well-planned, surgical atlas of airway and facial trauma. The book appropriately begins with a chapter on physical examination of the trauma patient and airway management by tracheostomy and cricothyroidotomy. Each successive chapter, except chapter 8, discusses management of trauma to a particular area of the face or upper airway. For example, chapter 2 discusses mandible fractures and contains many practical suggestions that are not usually found in a surgical atlas. Several different techniques to wire teeth for intermaxillary fixation are explained. Open reduction and internal fixation techniques, application of arch bars, and the use of intraoral splints are well described. Also, eccentric dynamic compression plating and the Morris external biphasic splint are discussed and illustrated. Cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea, a frequent complication of severe facial fractures, is covered in chapter 8. It is the most comprehensive chapter of the book. It details two approaches to the
