This book brings together background information on anatomy, physiology, and disorders of the auditory system in the context of their relations to brain-stem auditory evoked responses (BSER). This introductory text provides a realistic appreciation of BSER fundamentals, as well as their clinical applications and limitations. Each of the chapters is written by a prominent person in their respective areas of auditory research and each does an outstanding job of presenting information. If one considers the abundance of information available on BSER, the breadth of knowledge necessary to understand and use this technique, and the fact that information in this area is continuing to grow and change, one can appreciate the challenge of attempting to integrate this knowledge into one text.
