The authors, who are all experienced medical writers and experts in their fields, have collaborated to produce a practical guide to the diagnosis and management of otolaryngologic diseases. The content is targeted for the primary care physician and the topics are well chosen. The subject material is organized into three sections—the ear (Cody), the nose (Kern), and the throat (Pearson). This book emphasizes differential diagnosis and office management.

In general, the book is sparsely illustrated, and this serves the commendable purpose of limiting the size and cost of the volume, but this may detract somewhat from its usefulness. Several summary tables provide concise, practical information in a usable format.
