This book is a collection of papers produced at the proceedings of the Winnipeg (Ontario, Canada) Conference of Early Management of Hearing Loss in 1980.

This is an excellent book. It serves as a reminder that the health professional must treat the hearing impaired child as a whole person and as an integral part of the family and society. The case presentations emphasize this point and bring to light the fact that each professional who is part of a hearing impaired team has an obligation to provide services that promote early identification of communication disorders and appropriate management.

The text reiterates the need for a "real" team approach to diagnosis and treatment of hearing impaired children, which should leave the reader with some food for thought about his own clinical practice.
