This is an excellent book for every first-year resident in otolaryngology. Each of the 64 case presentations is followed by several multiple choice questions. The answers are brief but informative. By working diligently through all 64 cases, the resident will have learned useful guidelines for the initial treatment of most of the patients he is likely to encounter in the clinic or emergency room. The weakness of the book is in its references. Except for scattered updates to the editor's own recent publications, most of the references are almost a decade old. A thorough reference update is necessary to make the book of value to the senior resident or practicing otolaryngologist.
