CASE 1.—A 39-year-old woman had a radiolucent lesion of the mandible that was found at the time of a routine dental roentgenogram (Fig 1). A review of a roentgenogram taken eight years earlier showed an identical lesion, but she had refused further investigation. She now agrees to have the lesion curetted. Representative tissue is shown in Figs 2 and 3.
What is your diagnosis?
CASE 2.—A 24-year-old man had been aware of facial puffiness for at least five years. He thought that this had become worse in the last six months and went to his physician. The roentgenogram is shown in Fig 4. The bone was subsequently exposed and found to be thickened. It was remodeled, and representative fields from the resected tissue are shown in Figs 5 and 6.
