This book, edited by George A. Gates, MD, fills and fulfills a need in our specialty literature.

Recognizing a role for critical individual contemporary statements on the state of the art of treatment in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, Gates has wisely edited an excellent compilation of essays devoted to specific therapeutic problems. This strong and directed editorial hand has orchestrated nonreferenced method contributions by more than 100 internationally known contributors into a readable 391 pages. The mandate of each author, in a three- to four-page discourse, is to outline his treatment approach to a specific disorder or a specific symptom; ideally, the rationale for this individual decision-making process is offered.
