PATHOLOGIC QUIZ CASE 1
J. Jamón Escajadillo, MD, Mexico City
A 13-month-old girl was seen. At birth, she had small "papules" on the nose tip that were noticed by her mother. At three months, she had a red-purple coloration in the same region. Later, a slow growth developed on the tip of her nose, which produced an aesthetic deformity. Findings from a physical examination disclosed a red-purple coloration of the skin and a painless, soft, rubber-like tumor on the nose tip (Fig 1). This tumor produced a narrowing of the vestibular light, with columnella retraction. The remainder of the findings from the examination were normal.
A surgical resection of the tumor was made, without complications, and the material was sent for histopathologic study (Fig 2 and 3).
