New Officers.—The new officers for the Finnish Otolaryngological Society are as follows: president, Prof Juhani Karja; vice-president, Prof Pekka Karma; secretary, Juhani Nuutinen, MD; and treasurer, Pirkko Ruoppi, MD.

Residents Papers.—The Trauma Department of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) announces a competition for resident papers in the field of trauma. The competition is open to surgical specialty residents in the states or provinces of each region. Papers should describe original basic or clinical research in trauma.

Prizes include expenses paid to the annual meeting for presentations plus cash awards up to $1,500 for first prize.

Papers should be submitted to the chairman of the ACS State Committee on Trauma in your state. For details and deadlines, contact the previously listed source, or contact the Trauma Department of the ACS at 55 E Erie St, Chicago, IL 60611.
