This handbook is designed to be a pocket-size reference guide to the use of antimicrobials. The author charts the spectrum of various drugs, antituberculous therapy, and antibiotic interactions. Other sections deal with dosage, toxic reactions, and immunization schedules. The use of antibiotic prophylaxis in otolaryngology is not addressed.

The preponderance of the book is dedicated to charts of specific infections as they occur in various parts of the body. The organisms most likely responsible for a particular infection are listed with the recommended antibiotic to be used in lieu of, or before, culture results. This portion of the book is potentially useful; however, the author's recommended treatment of mastoid infection, for instance, is controversial.
