This compendium of allergy and immunology provides an excellent review of the literature and research that has been accumulating, particularly in the last ten years, in this rapidly changing field. Otolaryngologists who deal with so many manifestations of allergy in the ear, nose, and sinuses would be eager for extensive and definitive information in this area. Though information is accumulating, it remains sparse, and simple answers to these often frustrating problems do not exist. However, since allergic patients being treated for manifestations of their disease in the ear, nose, and paranasal sinuses often manifest constellations of symptoms in systems outside the head and neck, otolaryngologists would be interested in this review of general allergy.
Such a review should also foster cooperation between the various specialties that must manage various aspects of this multifaceted problem.
The book is divided into two sections, the first on immunology and the second on allergy.
