This book consists of a collection of papers given at the Second International Symposium on Pediatric Otolaryngology, held in Kansas City in March 1978. The papers cover a wide area of otolaryngology. The content of the book ranges from presentations on the state of the art and results of clinical experience to a philosophical approach to the subject. Drs Palva and Marquet give an account of their extensive experience in pediatric otologic surgery. The book contains a paper relating the experiences of Dr Fisch and his colleagues in facial paralysis in children. Dr Bruce Benjamin's chapter on drooling in children makes worthwhile reading, and it is unfortunate that it was not possible to transpose into the book some of the panel discussions in which he excelled. On the home front, there are contributions from Dr Leape on respiratory distress caused by gastroesophageal reflux, Dr Meyerhoff on metabolic abnormalities and hearing
