The book consists of 14 chapters. Dr Silber is the editor as well as the main contributor. A large portion of the book is devoted to the specific infertility problem caused either by disrupted fallopian tube(s) or vas deferens. There is a chapter on neurosurgery and two chapters on urologic microsurgery. However, there is enough concerning general microvascular surgery that a head and neck microvascular surgeon may find the book helpful.
Chapter 1 is a well-written introduction of microvascular surgery and contains all the details a beginner requires to master the techniques. This is further reinforced in chapters 2 and 3. There is also enough encouragement in the chapter to sustain a beginner through the frustrating learning process.
Chapter 4 contains essential information regarding blood flow in small vessels, which is important to microvascular surgeons. Chapter 10 summarizes the current status of free bowel transfer for reconstruction of the cervical
