Cancer: A Manual for Practitioners is a compilation of short articles designed to give the reader a general review of current principles in the management of patients with malignant disease. The intended audience is the noncancer specialist and paramedics who have an interest in oncology. For those desiring more in-depth understanding, the standard references for specialty cancer care should be consulted. For the head and neck surgeon, there may be some merit in reviewing the problems faced by surgeons in other specialty areas. For all readers I recommend the chapter by Christopher Gates on psychosocial issues in cancer, which serves to remind us that we treat people, not cancer.

New Book.Guide to Noise Control Literature, by Richard K. Miller, has recently been published by The Fairmont Press Inc, PO Box 14227, Atlanta, GA 30340. The volume has 148 pages, with no illustrations. The price is $24.95.
